Branded as the vocal group of South Korea, Mamamoo is a breath of fresh air among the typical idol groups. Consisting of four members, Mamamoo debuted in 2014 under Rainbow Bridge World, and has become a group relentlessly releasing back-to-back popular songs.

2014-2015

Before their debut, the girls released three pre-release singles including artists like Bumkey, with "Don't Be Happy", K.Will, with "Peppermint Chocolate", and Geeks, with "Heeheehaheho".

Debut with Hello, and Piano Man

The debut single of the group, “Mr. Ambiguous” wasn’t only popular, but the music video featured a lot of actors and idols giving cameo performances

By the ending of the year, and after another release of the mini-album “Piano Man”, Mamamoo were number 10 on the chart of most digital sales among girl groups, 19th in album sales and they took the 11th position for overall sales that year

2016-2017

Melting, first solo concert, Memory, and Purple

 

In 2016, Mamamoo released a single “I miss you” in January, followed by the amazing rap single filled with jokes and clever rhymes, “1 cm/Taller than you”; these were the singles from the group’s first full-length album called “Melting”.

Another song from the album, “You’re the best” was the group’s first number one single, when it received a lot of praise and acclaim. They’ve received a total of 8 wins in this single hit.

Mamamoo announced the release of their fifth EP Purple on June 22, 2017, with the title track      "Yes I Am". The title track quickly climbed to the number one spot on the Melon real-time chart. After one day, Mamamoo set the record for the highest number of unique listeners in 24-hours with "Yes I Am" on Melon for a girl group

2018-2019

Four Seasons Project

Mamamoo released "Paint Me" to act as a prelude to their upcoming project series "Four Seasons". 

The goal of the series is to showcase four albums, each combining one color and a matching member's characteristic for each season.

Hwasa, Spring: Yellow Flower

The tittle 'Starry Night' is Mamamoo's first Mv to get 100M Views

Moonbyul, Summer: Red Moon

Alongside with 'Egotistic', the girls released 'Rainy season' as a surprise release. The song was topping the charts soon after, making Mamamoo the first and only girl group to ever had a b-side at MelOn #1

Solar, Fall: Blue's

The title song “Wind Flower” is a soft pop track with beautiful guitar riffs.

Wheein, Winter: White Wind

'Gogobebe' is a carefree and colorful song thats ends the 4 season project

2019-Present

New era 'Reality in Black'

Mamamoo released their second full album, Reality in Black, on November 14, 2019, with its lead single "Hip

A dance track, “Hip” is a brassy take-down of those who have nasty words for Mamamoo

Solo Activities

2020 is the year for Mamamoo members to explore their individualities. Moonbyul is the first to release her Second Solo album 'Dark Side of the moon'.

Solar followed with her Solo debut album 'Spit it out' 

It's expected that Hwasa and Wheein follow them.
